"If I were to give you a synopsis of my life, my love of painting, the reasons that forced me to stop, the hardships that I went through in those times when I couldn’t continue my dream, and the ultimate cause and effect of what actually brought me back to this passion I have with painting, I would probably bore you all to tears so, I will not even try to attempt to explain them to you! But, I can summarise them all in a few words that will hopefully explain why I stood unwavering and steadfast with that dream to start again.

It all stems from one very special person in my life from so long ago – my grandfather - and the words that that he spoke to his young and innocent granddaughter. His advice was always uncomplicated, straightforward and simple and as I was trying to find my way through the complicated world of growing up, right up until this moment in my life, his words have never faded from my memory and have been the rock and foundation of my life.

He told me; ‘Dreams are what you make of them, and without them we may as well not live. They keep your spirit young and, no matter what obstacles life throws at you, never give up on them - Always live your dream and your dream will come true’.

These simple words are imprinted in my mind and always bring to mind the lyrics of Mack David from the immortal Disney film Cinderella. ‘A dream is a wish your heart makes’, ‘if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true’. These lyrics say it all !

This is the basis of my determination to live my dream. Nothing more complicated than that." Sarah-Jane
